Public urges TN Govt. to issue formal notice regarding Rs.1,000 promised to family heads every month

Public urges TN Govt. to issue formal notice regarding Rs.1,000 for family heads every month as promised by the DMK Government

Coimbatore: The public has urged the Tamil Nadu government issue a formal notice regarding the scheme of providing Rs. 1,000 per month to the heads of families.

Chief Minister Stalin had earlier promised that if the DMK came to power, the family heads would be given Rs.1000 per month. It is now being rumoured among the people that they will get Rs.1000 only if a woman in the family was the head in the Smart Card ID. Five types of smart ration cards are being distributed in Tamil Nadu. Most of these cards feature photos of men as the head of the family.

According to the DMK's election manifesto, the scheme for the head of the family is said to be implemented soon. Rumors are circulating on social media that one avail Rs.1000 only if a photo of a woman is presented as the head of the family on two types of ration cards, PHH and PHH-AAY. Believing this, the public are flocking to the Regional Distribution Officer's office and e-Service Centers, interested in changing not only the photo of the head of the family, but also the types of ration cards.

There have been complaints that intermediaries are using this environment to defraud the public of thousands of rupees. The public fears that if the photo of the head of the family is removed, there may be problems when trying to obtain other documents, including income certificates and location certificates. Department officials said, "The Government has not yet given a formal announcement on the payment of Rs. 1,000 to the heads of households; therefore, the public should not believe the rumors." Thus a section of the public are urging the Tamil Nadu government issue a formal notice to avoid confusion over the plan to provide Rs. 1000 for the heads of families.
