Woman and youth arrested for selling drugs targeting college students: Police on lookout for one
Coimbatore: Coimbatore has been witnessing increasing cases of drug overdoses over the past few days. Ganja sales have also been going on targeting students.
Police are conducting various raids and arrests in this regard. A youth and a woman were arrested for selling drugs to college students and police are on the lookout for more. The incident has caused a stir in Coimbatore. Coimbatore has recently been the target of drug trafficking targeting young people.
A few young people have a habit of dissolving painkillers in water and injecting them with syringes. The Commissioner of Police has ordered serious action in this regard. The police are engaged in intensive patrolling and arresting drug dealers and drug abusers. The Podanur police arrested a 32-year-old man named Becky alias Basheer, son of Basheer of Ukkadam housing unit, who was selling drugs at the back of the Vellalore housing unit yesterday.
Similarly, police led by Kuniyamuthur Sub-Inspector Ganesh Kumar were on patrol. They then searched a group of youth and a woman who were standing suspiciously near a pond in Sunnambu Kalvai area. It was revealed they had hundreds of drug pills. Following this, the suspects were taken to the station and arrested, along with Riyas (33) and Banu (50) wife of Amanullah, a resident of the Sunnambu Kalvai area, Kuniamuthur and Nasrudeen escaped from there. Police have registered a case and are investigating.
