As Valparai is a tourist destination and has only one route, this road is frequented not only by tourists but also by commercial vehicles, government buses and cars. With this in mind, road widening and barricade construction work on the 40 km long hill road is in full swing.
As a part of this, the construction of a safety barricade wall on the Valparai Pollachi main road and the highway in the Upperparalai tea estate area is in progress. Officials said that a safety barricade was being constructed in all areas of the bend in the hill road on Valparai Pollachi Road. Highway department said that this will decrease the number of accidents.
