Minister M Subramaniam says private hoispital in Coimbatore to be first to propvide free vaccines from CSR Funds



Coimbatore: Tamil Nadu Health Minister Ma Subramaniam conducted inspection on awareness and security measures against the Zika virus in border areas.



Following this he visited the medical camp located on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. He later told reporters that the world was being challenged by the coronavirus disaster and the next virus outbreak is being expected.



As the Zika virus is currently spreading in Kerala, awareness is being raised among the people living along the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. He also said that studies were being carried out to control the Zika virus, adding that 21,000 people were involved in mosquito eradication work in rural and municipal areas across the state. He said the Coimbatore district administration was involved in breeding Gambusia fish to kill mosquitoes at larval stage and thereby eradicating mosquitoes.

He said, "Next to Chennai, we have allotted more vaccines to Coimbatore. We have provided 109700 vaccines to Coimbatore. We are also offering free vaccinations in private hospitals through CSR funds. It will be implemented in Coimbatore for the first time in India."



Food and Civil Supply Minister Sakkarapani, Health Secretary Radhakrishnan, Mavuthampathy panchayat chief Gomati Senthil Kumar and other officials were present during the inspection.
