Police have arrested an old culprit and his wife with fingerprints in a case of theft of 19 sovereigns of jewellery in Poorandampalayam village near Sultanpet in Coimbatore district. The police investigation revealed that the couple used to rob a locked house.
On July 5, 19 sovereigns of gold jewellery were stolen from Parameswari's house in Poorandampalayam village near Sultanpet in Coimbatore district. Sultanpet police have registered a case and are investigating the theft by breaking the door of the house. In this case, the police recorded the fingerprints recorded in the house and conducted an investigation based on it. When the recorded fingerprints were examined along with the fingerprints of old offenders, they matched the fingerprints of Ramu, who was involved in robberies at Vadavalli and Thondamuthur police stations in Coimbatore.
The investigation also revealed that Ramu, who was recently released from jail, was living near Palladam with his wife Indrani. Based on the fingerprints recorded at the house following this, the Sultanpet police arrested both Ramu and his wife Indrani from the Palladam house. Thirteen sovereigns of gold jewellery and Rs 52,000 were confiscated from them.
The police investigation also revealed that the husband and wife were on a motorcycle looking for locked houses in the villages and routinely being involved in the theft of those houses. The arrested husband and wife were produced in the Sulur court and remanded in custody by the police.
