Coimbatore: A lorry carrying teak trees without permission was seized in Coimbatore.

Forest department was informed. After receiving information that the teak trees in the Patta land near Coimbatore were being cut down and transported in a lorry without permission, Forest officials led by Madukkarai Ranger Srinivasan rushed to the spot on the orders of District Forest Officer Venkatesh. The vehicle was loaded with teak trees and it was on its way to a mill on Trichy Road.

Forest officials who arrived there confiscated the lorry loaded with teak trees and took it to the Madukkarai forest office. More than a dozen trees appear to have been cut down from land owned by a doctor without forest department permission. The forest department is investigating the incident. The truck was confiscated.
