Man arrested for usurping money from a woman driving scooty in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Coimbatore: A youth was arrested in Coimbatore for usurping money from a woman by brandishing a knife. Anusya, 23, of Varadharajapuram Road, Uppilipalayam, Coimbatore, went to Ukkadam yesterday afternoon to buy household items. She was then returning home after buying supplies. When she went to the Sungam bypass, a young man brandished a knife and demanded money from Anusya.
Frightened by him, she gave the boy 500 rupees. Those who passed by saw this and tried to catch the boy. But he brandished a knife and fled. Anusya lodged a complaint with the Racecourse Police. The police filed a case and investigated. It was revealed that the money was stolen by Umar Koya, 24, of South Ukkadam Pullukat. The police arrested him and took him to jail.
