Sub-Collector inspects check posts set up in the border areas of Tamil Nadu and Kerala in Pollachi following Zika virus in Kerala

Coimbatore: The incidence of Zika virus transmitted by mosquitoes is increasing in Kerala.


Coimbatore: The incidence of Zika virus transmitted by mosquitoes is increasing in Kerala.

As a result, intensive surveillance is being carried out at the check posts in the vicinity of Coimbatore and Pollachi on the Tamil Nadu-Kerala border. A special monitoring team comprising Revenue Department, Panchayat Department and Police has been set up at the check posts including Nadupuni, Meenatchipuram and Gopalapuram near Pollachi headed by Medical Officer. Passengers coming to Pollachi from Kerala are allowed only after a rigorous check.



Pollachi Collector Thackeray Subham Gnana Dev Rao yesterday inspected the audits conducted on behalf of the medical monitoring teams at the Nadupuni, Gopalapuram and Meenatchipuram check posts near Pollachi.



Passengers coming to Tamil Nadu from Kerala should be allowed only if they have an e-pass. The Sub-Collector advised authorities that passengers traveling from Tamil Nadu to Kerala and back to Tamil Nadu must follow the e-pass system.
