Seven bikes were confiscated from a two-wheeler thief who was nabbed in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: Two-wheelers were being frequently stolen at various places like Coimbatore Government Hospital, Race Course area, Ratnapuri, R S Puram, Thudiyalur and Kavundampalayam across the city.
Following multiple complaints, police traced and arrested a man who has been responsible for the thefts.
A special team was formed under the supervision of Race Course Crime Division Inspector Sujatha and a serious investigation was carried out to nab the culprit. Surveillance cameras in the area where the thefts had taken place were inspected. The police search revealed that Vivekanandan (48) alias Kunjan from Saravanampatti Anna Nagar was involved in the theft. He was arrested and interrogated during which startling details of the two-wheeler thefts came to light.
The police confiscated six mopeds and a scooter from him. There are numerous two-wheeler theft cases against Kunjan who had also earlier been arrested and released from jail but took to thieving again. The investigation also revealed that Kunjan after stealing the two-wheelers left Coimbatore immediately and sold it in various places like Mettupalayam, Kavundampalayam etc., and lavishly spent the money. Police are conducting further investigation in the case.
