An old woman was on a bus and going to the bank to deposit gold and silver items in the bank locker as it would not be safe to have them in her house. Unidentified man who was standing behind the woman on the bus, stole her jewellery and escaped. The police have registered a case and are searching for the thief.
Devaraj's wife Kannammal, 61, of Nallampalayam near Coimbatore, had planned to deposit her gold chain and silverware in a bank locker. She took her three sovereign gold chains, silverware and various other items, including earrings and a ring, to the bank locker, put the locker keys in her handbag and boarded the bus to deposit them in the bank locker near the Gandhipuram GP signal.
She got off the bus and some unidentified man used the crowd to steal Kannammal's handbag and escape. Kannammal was shocked and lodged a complaint with the Kattoor police. Police have registered a case and are looking for the unidentified person who stole the handbag with the jewellery from the elderly woman.
