Police arrested man under POCSO for forcibly marrying a 16-year-old girl in Pollachi

Coimbatore: A 16-year-old girl from class 10 from Anaimalai near Pollachi was forced into marriage by a 26-year-old man from Komangalam.


Coimbatore: A 16-year-old girl from class 10 from Anaimalai near Pollachi was forced into marriage by a 26-year-old man from Komangalam.

The girl has complained to the Coimbatore Child Protection Organization that she was forced into marriage.

Following a complaint lodged by the Child Protection Organization, Pollachi All Women Police Station yesterday, the police registered a case against the girl's parents and the parents of the youth under the Child Marriage Prevention Act for forcing them to marry. Also, the youth who tried to forcibly marry the girl was arrested by the women's police station today under the POCSO Act.
