Rs.54 crores spent on heavy vehicle maintenance in Coimbatore from 2014 to 2018
Coimbatore: A whopping Rs.54 crores has been spent on heavy vehicle maintenance in Coimbatore from 2014 to 2108. An appeal was lodged with the Tamil Nadu Information Commission on 4-9-2020 against the refusal of 5 Zonal Assistant Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners to provide copies of the bill for copies of heavy vehicle maintenance expenditure, as per order 2-7-2021 from 2014 to 2018. A copy of the receipt for the Rs.54 crore spent on about 150 heavy vehicles was to be issued.
In the month of May 2020, a petition was sent to the Secretary to the Council Amulraj by the Special Office and Corporation Commissioner to provide the total number of resolutions passed monthly from October 2016 to May 2020. Order No. 2-7-21 of the Tamil Nadu Information Commission has been issued requesting to provide all the pages in the budget register in the Coimbatore Corporation Accounts Division from 2016 to 2020.
The order for the above three cases was received from the Tamil Nadu Information Commission on 11-7-21 on Tuesday. It is to be noted that if 150 new lorries were bought, it would only amount to Rs.25 crores and since this was a purchase made 10 years ago, it ought to be lesser for the 150 heavy vehicles.
