Coimbatore: The Azhiyar Dam Park has been reopened in Coimbatore district after the curfew.

Coimbatore: The Azhiyar Dam Park has been reopened in Coimbatore district after the curfew.

Areas including the Azhiyar Dam and the Monkey Falls in Pollachi are one of the major tourist attractions of the Coimbatore district. Tourists not only from Coimbatore but also from the outlying districts and outlying states visit the Azhiyar Dam Park and Monkey Falls during the holidays and festive seasons.

Meanwhile, tourist sites including Azhiyar Dam Park and Monkey Falls were closed on April 19due to corona infection. A curfew has been declared in Coimbatore district as the disease is on the decline.

Thus permission was granted to visit the tourist places of Azhiyar and Valparai. In the first phase, preventive measures were taken on behalf of the Public Works and Health Department officials in the Azhiyar Park areas.

Following this, the Azhiyar Park was opened yesterday. Although the park is open, the number of tourists currently visiting the park is very low due to fear of disease spread.

Meanwhile, the Forest Department-controlled Monkey Falls has not yet opened due to a lack of permission from the district administration.
