Coimbatore: As a precautionary measure against the expected Covid-19 wave, the Coimbatore Government Hospital has been equipped with 80 beds with special facilities and oxygen connection.

The Health Department is working hard to prevent a third wave from happening. Coimbatore Government Hospital has presently 800 oxygen beds ready to withstand the Covid-19 third wave if it hits the district.

When Coimbatore district was hit by the second wave, there was great damage across the district until recently when Covid cases began declining. The intensity of the second wave also brought to light the dearth of oxygen supply in keeping with the demand for Covid-19 patients. Most patients had great difficulty in getting oxygen beds. There were also casualties in a few places due to unavailability of oxygen as per timely requirement.

With medical experts predicting the possibility of a Covid-19 third wave, especially among children. Thus all districts across Tamil Nadu have begun taking necessary steps to cope with the impending thrid wave. Measures are being taken to increase the number of oxygen bed facilities in all Government Hospitals in Coimbatore, including the purchase of medicines for children.
