Coimbatore: The treatment center at Coimbatore Government College is not likely to close. Dean Nirmala informed that the treatment center on the college campus will continue to function even after the colleges open.

The incidence of corona increased in Coimbatore district last May. 70% of infected people needed oxygen. Thus there was a shortage of oxygen beds in the district. Following this, the Coimbatore Government Arts College on behalf of the district administration set up a 100-bed Corona Special Center with oxygen facilities last May.

This was opened by DMK State Youth Secretary Udayanithi Stalin MLA in the presence of Health Minister. Individuals with an oxygen level of 88 to 90 percent were admitted and treated at this treatment center. In rotation the doctors were engaged in the work of the nurses. The health department is now in the process of preparing for the third wave as the corona is gradually declining.

Nirmala, dean of the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital, said, "It is unlikely that the treatment center at the government college will continue to operate. The treatment center will operate on the college campus even if the colleges are open. Changes will be made accordingly. Problems, including delays in re-establishing a treatment center, can occur if the spread increases again after the treatment center is moved from there immediately. Therefore, in the interest of the public, the center at the Government Arts College will continue to function, ”he told reporters.
