Locals in Valparai overjoyed as Government buses resume operations in Valparai

Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Government has announced that State buses can be operated from July 5 onward since the Covid pandemic situation has been brought under control. Government buses in Valparai resumed operations since Monday morning. There are 10 buses from Valparai to Pollachi, Palani, Tirupur and 24 buses to the tea estates of Mudis, Sholayar Dam and Shekalmudi Karumalai Shakthi Estate. Only 24 buses operate from the Valparai State Transport Corporation branch.

Bus operations were stopped in Valparai since May 10 due to the lockdown clamp announced by the Government owing to Covid-19. Locals are overjoyed at having bus operations resume after a gap of 54 days. Buses were checked and disinfectants were sprayed before the buses departed from the depot this morning.

The bus to Pollachi had over 20 passengers. The transport administration has announced that only 50 percent of passengers will be allowed on the buses and all are required to compulsorily wear face masks.
