SP warns country bomb makers in Coimbatore and issues complaint number

Coimbatore: The District Superintendent of Police has issued a stern warning to those involved in illegal bomb making in Coimbatore. They have issued a complaint number to provide information about those involved in bomb making.

According to a press release issued by the district SP Naga Selvarathnam, he said, "Country bombs in the forests of Coimbatore district are used for hunting of wildlife and are prohibited. In the year 2020 and in the current year (2021) 5 cases have been registered in Annur, Periyanaickenpalayam, Karamadai and Thudiyalur police stations.

Also, 9 people have been arrested in connection with it. 14 country bombs have been seized and action is being taken. Making of Avuttukai and hunting wildlife using them is a crime under the law, so those involved in such activities will be prosecuted. The public can call 9498181212 and WhatsApp 77081 00100 if they have any information in this regard. The details of the informants will be kept confidential."

It is to be noted that on the instructions of Coimbatore Zonal Additional Chief Forest Officer J. Anwardeen, District Forest Officer D. Venkatesh had last year lodged a complaint with the District Superintendent of Police seeking action against using Avuttukkai for poaching wildlife.
