Police seize liquor bottles from pedestrian in Singayanapudur near Kinathukadavu
Coimbatore: With TASMAC outlets yet to open in 11 districts, including Coimbatore, owing to the lockdown clamped across Tamil Nadu due to the spread of Covid-19, alcohol lovers in Coimbatore district have been traveling to Kerala to buy liquor to hoard and sell at a higher price in Tamil Nadu.
Sub-Inspector Arul Prakash of Kinathukadavu Police Station conducted a vehicle inspection at the Singaiyanputhur bus stand on Thursday evening. On inspecting a passerby, the police found him to be in possession of 15 alcohol bottles and 4 bottles of beer which he reportedly intended to hoard and sell at a higher price. The police confiscated the liquor and registered a case against the man who has been identified as Muruganantham, a resident of Singaiyanputhur.
