Coimbatore: The Indira Sundaram Foundation, headquartered in Tirupur, has provided relief items and food to more than 15,000 poor people in Coimbatore and Tirupur in the last 40 days in a situation where the spread of coronavirus infection has severely affected people from all walks of life.



Indrani, Chairperson, Indira Sundaram Foundation, said, “I have been assisting the affected people in Coimbatore and Tirupur districts for the last 40 days due to the spread of the disease. We have provided a package of relief items including a kilo of rice and we continue to provide lunch to the poor people.



In the Somayampalayam, Coimbatore, we have provided a separate package of groceries for 25 transgender people for a month. Today I have given a cheque for Rs. 15,000 to Senthilkumar, a disabled person who runs a petti shop in Pichanur, Coimbatore, to protect his livelihood. Similarly this eveningI have done medical aids by sponsoring a urinary tube for a patient who suffered an accident near Thudiyalur with spinal cord injury and paralysis of the legs and suffering without any sensation under the waist.



The Indira Sundaram Foundation has so far distributed welfare items to more than 15,000 people. My goal is to continue to help the poor and needy during the pandemic."
