Tirupur: Anaiththu Maruthuvar Makkal Kazhagam petitioned the District Collector's Office to allow the opening of hairdressers in Tirupur district.
They alleged their livelihoods will be affected as the Tamil Nadu government will not allow them to open more barbershops in 11 districts, including Tirupur and Coimbatore, as barber shops across the district are closed due to the coronavirus. They said they are ready to operate the shops following the guidelines of the Government of Tamil Nadu and permission should be given to open the shops for a minimum period of time.
They also petitioned the district attorney's office to provide relief assistance of Rs. 15,000 each to all barber workers.
