Police takes no action against gang that extorts money from couples: Video released causes stir in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: A youth and his mother have been arrested in connection with a gang that extorted money from a student. Several videos by the youth have now been released.
A student aged 19 from Singanallur was a second year student at a private college. Kesavakumar (A) Vijaya Sethupathi, 24, who dropped out of college halfway through his studies got acquainted with the student. They then clicked several pictures together. From time to time, the young man received money and jewelry by telling the student about his family's troubles. At one point, when the student stopped giving money, the youth's true colour was shown. The student was later shocked to learn that the youth's mother was also involved in the threat and resorted to suicide.
Singanallur police registered a case and arrested Kesavakumar and his mother Mangayarkarasi, 46, last week and remanded them in custody. Currently, some of Kesavakumar's videos have been released. In those videos, some college students were reportedly locked in a room and gang-raped and intimidated and also intimate videos of students who were in love. It is feared that the gang may have been involved in a large number of college students.
There were also video recordings of him strolling on the road with a large sickle and attacking college students on the road. Kesavakumar has threatened the parents of the college student that he has already been to jail twice and that he can do nothing if they complain to the police. Only then did the student commit suicide out of fear. The currently released videos by the youth confirm the allegations.
