Kinathukadavu Police Inspector and Chief Constable transferred to Armed Forces for taking bribe to release driver involved in a car accident: DSP order
Coimbatore: An old man was killed on June 20 when a car collided with his two wheeler at Kinathukadavu Senranpalayampirivu in Coimbatore district. The Kinathukadavu police had arrested Suresh, the driver of the car that caused the accident.
Meanwhile, it is reported that the Inspector of Kinathukadavu Police Station, Suresh and Chief Constable Venkatachalam had demanded a bribe of Rs. 20,000 from the owner of the car to release his driver Suresh on bail. But the owner of the car reportedly paid a bribe of only Rs.12,000 to Chief Constable Venkatachalam which was then handed over to Inspector Suresh.
The owner of the car who paid the bribe later lodged a complaint with top police officials. Based on the complaint, the District Superintendent of Police, Selva Nagaratnam investigated both Kinathukadavu Police Inspector Suresh and Chief Constable Venkatachalam and discovered that they had taken a bribe for the release of the driver.
Following this, Inspector Suresh and Chief Constable Venkatachalam have been transferred to the Coimbatore Armed Forces on Wednesday. The incident has saddened fellow officers and shocked the public.
