Request to carry out railway bridge work without affecting people and landowners in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: Requests are being to ensure that the work on the Coimbatore-Peelamedu Thaneerpandal railway overpass should be carried out without affecting the people and landowners.

The work on the Coimbatore-Peelamedu Thaneerpandal railway line was started two years ago and the bridge was built just above the railway reserve, leaving the road unusable for the last two years. It is said that on the 16th, the contractors initiated poojas and started the overpass on the north side of the railway line.

Highways officials said, "We are going to carry out the work from the north side as the case filed by 2 companies on the south side of the railway line regarding land acquisition is pending. By then, the cases on the south side of the bridge will be over.''

Already, traffic has been completely disrupted for the past two years as overpass work is pending. Also in the north side it is required to replace the alignment of the drinking water pipes. According to a petition filed by the Peelamedu Divisional Secretary at the Vellingiri at the District Collector's Office, a tunnel has to be constructed under the bridge.

He in his petition said, with this in mind, it would be most beneficial for the people to complete all the cases and pay the compensation due to the landowners, replace the drinking water pipes without any hindrance to the people, complete the land acquisition process and carry out the overpass of the Thaneerpandal railway without any harm to the public and the landowners. So he requested proper inspection and then began the instruction to start the work.
