Corporation Commissioner inspects lakes rejuvenated under Smart City project in Coimbatore

Coimbatore: Commissioner of Corporation and Special Officer Rajagopal Sunkara IAS inspected the Ukkadam, Periyakulam, Selvachinthamani lakes and Valankulam ponds being reconstructed under the Smartcity project in Coimbatore. He appealed to all field workers to be vaccinated.

Commissioner Rajagopal Sunkara today (16.06.2021) inspected the work being carried out by field workers engaged in corona prevention activities at Kempatti Colony Corporation High School in Central Zone.



Commissioner Inspected the rejuvenated Ukkadam Periyakulam at an estimated cost of Rs. 62.17 crore under the Smart City Project in Coimbatore Corporation, Selvachinthamani lake at an estimated cost of Rs. 31.47 crore, the Valankulam lake which are being renovated at an estimated cost of Rs. 67.86 crore which includes a walkway, bicycle path, seats, shaded seats with solar-powered roofs and umbrellas on the shore of the pool, and an open-air arena, a playground, Restaurants, Toilets open, Outdoor Gym, Dockyard, Floating Restaurant‌, Security Cameras‌, LED lights, bird watching tower, parking facilities are set up all over the shore and natural rocks are created with ornamental plants. The Commissioner of the Corporation also inspected the facilities of the float and the playground.



Subsequently, field workers went door-to-door on the premises of the Corporation Irupalar High School in the Central Zone, Kempatti Colony, and tested the public for cough, body temperature test, pulse oximeter detection of body oxygen level. Fieldworkers were also advised to be vaccinated.



The event was attended by Assistant Commissioner (Central) Sivasubramaniam, Assistant Chief Engineer Karuppusamy, Assistant Chief Engineer Kamalakkannan, Assistant Engineer Saravanan, Zonal Health Officer Radhakrishnan and Corporation officials.
