Man arrested for trying to defraud a bank with a cheque of Rs 6 crore in Coimbatore


Coimbatore: Muruganantham (60) is from Meenakshi nagar, Coimbatore. On May 26he deposited a cheque worth Rs. 6 crore in the name of Thirumangai Charitable Trust in a private bank in Coimbatore.

When the bank checked the cheque it was revealed that it was fake and immediately Bank manager Sooraj lodged a complaint with the Coimbatore City Crime Branch. An investigation by the special team of police revealed that the cheque belonged to Mukul Rothaki, a native of Delhi.

It was also revealed that Agam Foundation, Sadiq, Vadivelu and few others were involved in this fake cheque affair. The police registered a case under 6 sections including fraud in connection with the incident. Meanwhile Muruganantham and others involved in the case went into hiding. Muruganandam was arrested by the Special Forces Police on Tuesdayand remanded in custody in court. Police are on the search hunt for others who are in hiding.
