1070 buses to be operated in Coimbatore division when public transport is opened out fully post lockdown
Coimbatore: The Coimbatore State Transport Corporation (STC) plans to run 1,070 state-run buses from the Coimbatore line if the curfew is relaxed and public transport is allowed.
Since last May, the operation of government and private buses has been completely halted due to an enforced curfew order to control the spread of the coronavirus. The Tamil Nadu government has announced that public transport services will be suspended until further notice.
The Coimbatore State Transport Corporation plans to run 1070 buses from the Coimbatore line if further relaxation of the curfew is granted and permission is granted to start public transport.
An official of the Coimbatore State Transport Corporation said, "The maintenance work of the government buses at the workshops in the Coimbatore division is in full swing. Most of the buses are ready to run after maintenance. We plan to run 1070 buses in Coimbatore division if the government gives permission to run buses. Additional buses will be operated according to the number of passengers, ”he said.
