Heavy rains in Ooty: Trees uprooted in many places affecting traffic.


The Nilgiris: As the monsoon intensifies in Nilgiris trees were uprooted in many places. For the past three days, it has been raining widely in most parts of the Nilgiris district.

In Avalanche, 83 mm of rain was reported as of 8:00 am yesterday. In Upper Bhavani, the maximum rainfall in the district was recorded at 109 mm. Firefighters immediately removed fallen trees from the road. Very cold weather has been prevailing in Ooty.

Collector Innocent Divya said, “It has been raining for two days in Nilgiris. 42 zonal teams are monitoring the disaster struck areas. There are 456 camps ready to accommodate people living in low-lying and flood-prone areas."
