COTMA requests TN Chief Minister to ensure extended time is granted for payment of electricity bills

Coimbatore: COTMA has requested the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M K Stalin to ensure that shut factories are granted the extended time already given by the Government of Tamil Nadu in an order issued recently for payment of electricity bills.

These small and medium scale factories had to be shut due to Covid-19 lockdown in Coimbatore district.

The Tamil Nadu Electricity Generating and Distribution Corporation has been sending messages to entrepreneurs asking them to pay the electricity bills of April and May for their businesses in Coimbatore and surrounding areas before June 15. In the letter to the CM, COTMA stated that with the Covid-19 lockdown likely to be extended in the state, this could pose a serious crisis for entrepreneurs in this sector who have been severely affected economically and psychologically.

They requested that they be given three months grace period after the lockdown is relaxed to pay their utility bills and thus help entrepreneurs during this time of crisis especially for thier businesses.
