Tirupur knitting companies must procure and administer vaccines to workers at own cost: Tirupur District Chairman, Indian Industry Association

Tirupur: As Covid-19 cases are decreasing in the last few days due to the aggressive action of the Tamil Nadu government.

However, the Tamil Nadu government has been providing vaccines to the public with the aim of eradicating the coronavirus. Private companies are also allowed to purchase vaccines. Following this, 500 vaccines were procured on behalf of the Indian Industry Association in Tirupur district and vaccinated ST Exports workers in Pooluvapatti. It was started by Tirupur District Revenue Officer Saravana Murthy.

Speaking to reporters, Tirupur District President of the Confederation of Indian Industry, Tirupur, said that everyone in Tamil Nadu should be vaccinated to control the coronavirus. He said the Government of Tamil Nadu is providing free vaccines but there is a shortage. Currently, private companies are allowed to purchase vaccines hence districts with industrial establishments like Tirupur have to procure and provide vaccines for their workers at their own cost.

He said this will prevent a shortage of vaccines available to the public and by doing this they strengthen measures of the Tamil Nadu government. Therefore, in the first phase, 500 ST export workers are being vaccinated in Tirupur on behalf of the Indian Industry Association and they expect that seeing this more companies come forward to buy vaccines for their workers.
