13 tons of vegetables and flowers exported from Coimbatore to Sharjah in 13 days!

Coimbatore: In 13 days, 13 tonnes of vegetables and flowers, including bananas, courgettes, aubergines and coriander, were exported to Sharjah from Coimbatore.

Only one flight between Coimbatore and Sharjah will be operated during the week of June 1. Large quantities of vegetables and flowers have been transported on this flight from Coimbatore.

According to airport sources, the airline has been operating flights from Coimbatore to Singapore, Sri Lanka and Sharjah.

Air traffic has been affected due to the spread of corona infection. Currently, only Sharjah operates flights to Coimbatore on behalf of the country's airline, Air Arabia.

The service was gradually reduced to 3 days a week and now only one service per week. Air Arabia has announced that only two flights will be operated for two weeks from June 1 to June 15. Accordingly, two aircraft have been operated to date.

Passengers are allowed on flights from Sharjah to Coimbatore. But only cargo is allowed on the way back. Due to this more cargo is booked than usual and carried on these flights. A total of 13 tonnes of cargo was carried on the two flights, which operated from June 1 to June 13.

Only vegetables and flowers are booked in bulk. Vegetables, especially bananas, courgettes, aubergines and coriander, are highly booked. Apart from that, 1 ton of flowers are booked and taken on board every time, ”airport sources said.
