FOCIA requests to clarify permit for operation during lockdown and to arrange vaccination camp for it employees in Coimbatore
Coimbatore: FOCIA in a press release said, "Currently in Coimbatore district, there is no relaxation of lockdown. The Government of Tamil Nadu has allowed the factories that produce essential commodities to operate with less staff even during this lockdown.
Accordingly, agricultural machinery, automobiles, medical equipment, military equipment, and food processing plants and factories are also allowed to operate. Thus, the authorities are coming to inspect if they are operating as per the notification of the Tamil Nadu government. The officers who come to inspect it ask if the industry has permission by the district collector to operate."
They added , "Since the beginning of the lockdown no separate permit has been issued by the District Collector's Office for operations so far. It is not mentioned in any notification of the Government of Tamil Nadu that the industries operating in the state should obtain the permission of the District Collector. The officers who come to inspect deny this and impose fines for operating without the permission of the District Collector. As a result, only a handful of factories with 50 per cent staffing are operating and workers are also losing their jobs.
We would like to ask the District Collector to clarify whether there is a system of issuing "permits" to factories in the production of essential commodities. We are ready to apply if the permit is issued."
They asked to clarify if the notification of the Government of Tamil Nadu is sufficient and that this be made clear to the officers who will be conducting the inspection. They also urged to give priority to the staff of small industries and requested the Small Business Organizations to make appropriate provision for vaccination and asked for a vaccination camp to be held.
