Students' Federation of India complains to District Collector about private educational institutions demanding tuition fees
Coimbatore: Private schools and colleges are forcing students to pay tuition fees when educational institutions are not yet open. The Students' Federation of India has urged the Coimbatore District Collector to take action against private educational institutions that harass students and when parents are suffering due to lack of work and income during the lockdown.
A petition was filed by Nisar, president of the Students' Federation of India, and Dinesh Raja, secretary, at the Coimbatore District Collector's Office. The second wave of the coronavirus is spreading fast and all school colleges are closed. people are losing their livelihoods because of the lockdown. Even during this time of calamity various private school colleges in Coimbatore are forcing parents to pay fees.
Private school and colleges including VLB, PSG, Ratnam College, Michael Job College, Hindustan College of Arts and Sciences, RVS, Amritha Vidyalaya, St. Joseph School are urging students to pay exam fees and season fees and are constantly texting students and parents on their cell phones, urging them to pay. They threaten not to allow students to write the exam if they do not pay the fee.
This causes stress for students and parents. The Students' Federation of India strongly condemns this trend of private colleges. Various students have complained about the fees on the student union’s website. They attached a copy of it with this complaint. The Government of Tamil Nadu has not yet issued any statement regarding school college openings and examinations.
Even at this time it is unacceptable for private college schools in Coimbatore to constantly contact students and force them to pay fees. Therefore, they urged that the Coimbatore District Collector should immediately intervene and take stern action against school colleges that charge fees to students and set up a committee to monitor the activities of private schools and colleges.
