Valparai traders request Commissioner for permission to trade door-to-door

Coimbatore: Traders have demanded of the Valparai Commissioner to allow them to sell their groceries from door-to-door in Valparai area since their business have been severely affected by the complete curfew that has been imposed as a Covid-19 preventive measure.


Coimbatore: Traders have demanded of the Valparai Commissioner to allow them to sell their groceries from door-to-door in Valparai area since their business have been severely affected by the complete curfew that has been imposed as a Covid-19 preventive measure.

There are more than 60 tea estates in Valparai, Coimbatore district in which more than 50,000 people live. Most of them come to Valparai to buy groceries and essential items but due to Covid-19 preventive measures, workers from the tea estates have been asked to refrain from entering Valparai.



Instead, fruits and vegetables required by the locals are being sent to the respective areas by vehicles for trade. Similarly, traders in Valparai petitioned Valparai Municipal Commissioner Suresh to be allowed to sell their groceries by vehicles. Following that, a permit for traders to do business is being issued by the municipality. The event was attended by traders MP Shaju, Suresh, Bapuji and Kusalavan.
