Swarga Foundation helps needy breathe a sigh of relief by leasing its oxygen concentrators
Coimbatore: Save a Life is an initiative of the Coimbatore-based Swarga Foundation that provides patients with oxygen concentrators on lease for a minimal cost of just rupees 100 per day.
A spokesperson from the foundation informed that the idea to implement the project comes at a time when there is a sheer lack of oxygen support for patients. Those suffering from the deadly Covid- 19 virus and who are coping with oxygen border level can be beneficiaries of the Save a Life initiative.
The foundation is more than just careful of whom to lend the oxygen concentrators. Once a request for the same is received, volunteers of the foundation do a background check to determine if the patient really needs one in the first place. Medical reports courtesy the doctor who is treating the patient are checked. A copy of the patient’s Aadhar card is obtained and only then is the respective oxygen concentrator transported to the door step of the patient.
A deposit of rupees 5,000 is collected as a security deposit. This we are told will be refunded after the patient’s dependency on the equipment is over and the same is returned to the foundation. A patient can take advantage of the an oxygen concentrator for a maximum period of five days. The life saving machine must necessarily be booked in advance with the foundation who is working to ensure that demand meets supply.
Professionals who are well versed in dealing with the installation and operation of the O2 concentrator visit the door step of the patient and all Covid-19 protocols are adhered to while having the equipment installed. Once the foundation is called for having the machine uninstalled, the team of experts visits the patient’s door step and the process of uninstalling the oxygen concentrator is done with all Covid- 19 guidelines being followed.
