Coimbatore: According to Health Secretary, Radhakrishnan,measures have been intensified to prevent the spread of Covid-19 in Coimbatore district. “Next to Chennai in Tamil Nadu, cases are high in Coimbatore.
Since Coimbatore is an industrial city, public transport is higher than in other districts and there is also a need to focus on the vulnerable western districts. Currently, we are focusing more on Coimbatore, Tirupur and Erode districts.”
“The Government plans to appoint additional officers with a district-level monitoring officer. In Coimbatore and Tirupur districts, the spread is at 30.5 per cent increase. Arrangements have been made to avoid an oxygen crisis in Coimbatore. However, to overcome the oxygen bed deficiency, Coronavirus treatment centers with oxygen concentrators should be established. Not everyone needs an intensive care unit or oxygen beds.
We have instructed the district administration in Coimbatore to take some integrated control measures implemented in Chennai to prevent the spread of the disease,” reiterated the Health Secretary.
