Coimbatore: A case has been filed in the Chennai High Court seeking a recount for the Coimbatore South constituency.

In the Coimbatore constituency, Hindustan Janata Party's Coimbatore South Candidate and Southern Regional Leader K. Raghul Gandhi, has filed a petition with the High Court.

In a petition filed by him, he said, "Vanathi Srinivasan, who contested for the BJP party in the Coimbatore South constituency has won with 53,209 votes and was declared the winner. I was informed that only 73 votes were recorded for me. The announcement of Vanathi Srinivasan's victory raised suspicions as she received backlash before the elections.

Vanathi Srinivasan has won by fraudulently using electronic voting machines. A complaint was filed with the Election Commission on May 3rdbut they did not take any action regarding it. I request for a recount at the Coimbatore South constituency.

My petition should be considered and the Election Commission must be ordered to conduct a recount in the Coimbatore South constituency." He said.

Meanwhile, the case is set to go to trial next week.
