Food and Civil supplies Minister R Sakkarapani kickstarted disbursement of Rs 2,000 as coronavirus relief fund in Coimbatore

Funds of Rs 4,153 crore had been allocated for Covid-19 distribution to the public and Rs 203.73 crore has been allocated to distribute the first installment of Rs 2,000 in Coimbatore.



Coimbatore: Food and Civil supplies Minister R Sakkarapani today inaugurated the first installment of the Covid-19 Relief Fund of Rs 2000 to the public at the Mani's School in Coimbatore.

Further speaking, he said, "Chief Minister Stalin in his election manifesto said that Rs 4,000 would be given to families with ration cards. Accordingly, the Chief Minister first signed the relevant files on May 7thafter the swearing-in ceremony.

Earlier, the funds were planned to be distributed on June 3rdbut with the Covid-19 hitting hard everyday,Chief MinisterMK Stalin had ordered to distribute Rs 2000 immediately.

Funds of Rs 4,153 crore had been allocated for this. There are a total of 10,18,637 Ration card beneficiaries in the Coimbatore district and Rs 203.73 crore has been allocated to distribute the first installment of Rs 2,000.



In Coimbatore, the amount will be distributed through 163 Co-operative Societies, 1,126 Ration shops, 54 Ration shops under the Tamil Nadu Consumer Goods Corporation, 103 fair price shops run by the Women's Self Help Group reaching a total of 1,401 ration card holders in Coimbatore.



Tokens for this were issued to the public from the 10th to the 13th. The relief funds would be provided for only 200 beneficiaries per shop per day and only 50 per hour to avoid overcrowding." He said.
