Coimbatore GH Dean Dr. Nirmala urges kin of patients to show humanity to doctors

Coimbatore Government Hospital Dean Dr. Nirmala has said that doctors who fight for people's lives should be shown some humanity.

Coimbatore: The number of people arriving at the Coimbatore Government Hospital for Covid-19 treatment is continuously increasing with every passing day. Oxygen beds, normal beds and intensive care units are overcrowded with the number of patients increasing on a daily basis.

Many people wait long hours to get admission into the hospital. During that long waiting period, caregivers complained that patients who needed medical attention had no medical staff to enquire at the hospital. Hence, they end up arguing with doctors, nurses and hospital staff. Some frontline workers express their regret at being scolded with harsh words. "In times of a disaster like this, doctors can work without stress only if the public can understand the mindset of doctors and cooperate," they opined.

Dr. Nirmala, the Dean of CMCH also stated, "Doctors are constantly working to ensure that everyone is treated properly. As the patients are increasing daily, we are making changes and treating everyone accordingly. We are efficiently working with the staff we have. But, some of the relatives of patients interfere with the work of the doctors, thus causing a lot of stress. Show a little humanity for doctors who are continuously fighting for the lives of people. We too are humans," she pleaded.
