Rotary Club of Coimbatore Spectrum donates Oxygen Plant to Coimbatore GH

Coimbatore: With an acute shortage of oxygen supply in all hospitals across the country, Rotarians of Coimbatore led from the forefront in a noble effort to ensure that the city is insulated from this crisis.

The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Spectrum has donated an Oxygen Plant to Coimbatore GH which can support 20 beds. Major contributions for the project were received from Baker Hughes, Coimbatore (CSR Partner) and Small Differences. The members of the club have also made personal contributions and raised funds from friends and relatives. The project cost is Rs. 27 lakhs which includes 100 lpm centralised oxygen plant, pipelines for carrying the oxygen, bed-side control units and AMC for 5 years.

The generator was installed in less than 72 hours by M/s Faraday Ozone Private Limited. A request was received from the Dean of CMCH on May 4 and in a week’s time, the plant started functioning with patients using the facility since May 11. This plant uses the time-tested PSA technology and the entire medical fraternity at the Coimbatore Government Hospital expressed their thanks to the Rotarians of Coimbatore for acting fast to supply the need. Additional plants are under installation by other Rotary Clubs and very soon the oxygen needs of Coimbatore Government Hospital is expected to be fulfilled.

Rotarians also propose to create similar facilities at the ESI Hospital. They are also in the process of arranging portable Oxygen Concentrators which can be used at PHCs.
