Tamil Nadu Chief Minister announces solatium of Rs. 25 lakhs each to doctors' bereaved families owing to COVID-19
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, M K Stalin on Wednesday announced a sum of Rs. 25 lakhs each to the bereaved families of doctors who died fighting Covid-19. In a statement, the Chief Minister said that as many as 43 doctors’ families would be given the solatium of Rs. 25 lakhs. This covers doctors who served in both private and Government facilities.
“Doctors and other frontline workers are fighting against Covid-19 since its outbreak on a war footing. A few doctors have lost their lives while fighting against the virus and treating patients. The Government knows that the loss is irreparable and cannot be compensated. Considering the plight of the bereaved doctors' families, the TN Government will provide the solatium while standing in solidarity with them,” reiterated the Chief Minister in his statement.
The CMalso announced incentives for staff nurses and other labourers involved in the fight against Covid-19. The incentives will be for three months of April, May and June for all doctors, nurses and other staff. The announcement stated that doctors will receive Rs. 30,000 as their incentive for the three months while nurses and others will get Rs. 25,000 and Rs. 15,000 respectively. PG doctors and those who are under the list of practising doctors will also receive Rs. 20,000 as incentives.
