Two female Government contract workers suspended after a video on them receiving bribe goes viral

Coimbatore: Two female contract employees of Coimbatore Government Hospital have been suspended in connection with a bribery complaint.

Thousands of people visit the Coimbatore Government Hospital every day. It was reported that some staff working in the hospital were demanding bribes to transport patients to other wards in wheelchairs and stretchers. The staff in the maternity ward have also reportedly demanded money for childbirths and pregnant women undergoing surgery.

The video of two female contract employees in the maternity ward taking a bribe from a woman's relative in the past few weeks has gone viral on social media. In this regard, a complaint was lodged with the hospital management. On inquiry, it was discovered that both female contract employees, Rani (46) and Kannammal (35) had received bribes. The hospital management suspended both of them on Monday.

CMCH Dean, Dr. Nirmala said, “For any service at the hospital, the public does not need to pay money. You can report the details of those who ask for money to the management. The complaint will be investigated and appropriate action will be taken," she added.
