Chief Minister instructs ministers to monitor coronavirus infected districts: 2 ministers Sakkarapani and Ramachandran appointed for Coimbatore.
Coimbatore: As the second wave of the coronavirus is spreading rapidly in Tamil Nadu, MK Stalin, who became the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu recently, has been involved in various measures to prevent coronavirus. Ministers have been ordered to monitor the affected districts in this regard.
The inauguration ceremony of the Tamil Nadu Cabinet was held at the Secretariat in a very simple manner as the second wave was intensive. However, it was announced that a cabinet meeting on coronavirus prevention would be held later that evening.
But as Chief Minister M.K. Stalin was engaged in analysing the work ahead, the scheduled cabinet meeting was adjourned. The first meeting of the Tamil Nadu Cabinet was eventually held at the Chennai General Secretariat at 11.30 am yesterday. The meeting was held on the tenth floor of the Namakkal Kavignar Maligai and was chaired by Chief Minister MK Stalin. The meeting was attended by all the ministers including Water Resources Minister Duraimurugan, Urban Development Minister KN Nehru, Cooperatives Minister Periyasamy, Higher Education Minister Ponmudi and Public Works Minister EV Velu.
The Chief Minister then appointed two ministers for each district. Accordingly, Minister of Food and Civil Supply Sakkarapani and Minister of Forests Ramachandran have been appointed to Coimbatore. They are fully involved in preventive measures in their respective districts for better enforcement, complete lockdown, immediate treatment of patients, prevention of oxygen wastage and raising awareness among the people. The ministers will go to their assigned districts today to begin their work.
