Panic buying draws crowds in Valparai before lockdown starts tomorrow in TamilNadu

Lockdown is imposed in TamilNadu from May 10th to 24th.


Coimbatore: Lockdown is imposed in TamilNadu from May 10th to 24th, 2021. Hence public in Valparai were seen crowding at all places to buy essentials. This created panic in the area.

Workers from the Valparai area mostly have their off day on Sunday. Hence the public are seen going to various shops in the town area to buy necessary things and groceries. TamilNadu government has issued a lockdown with exceptions from May 10th to 24th to contain the Covid-19 pandemic.

In this context, the government allowed full functioning of shops from on both Saturday and Sunday. Shops including groceries, meat and fish shops were seen crowded by public. A large flock of people were also seen at the Bus Stand in Valparai. This created panic as the crowd turned uncontrollable.

Hence, under the leadership of Valparai Tahsildar Rajan and Police Inspector Maheshwari, a group of officials conducted inspections in the Valparai Bus stand, private pharmacy etc.

Officials also imposed fine on those who failed to wear face masks. The municipal officials also advised the public to be aware of the ongoing situation as urged them to protect themselves.
