People suffer due to damaged roads filled with potholes: Kavundampalayam flyover works progress in a slow place

Coimbatore: The construction of a flyover at Mettupalayam Road in Coimbatore is progressing very slowly. People are also suffering due to potholes on roads that have been damaged due to flyover work. On the Coimbatore-Mettupalayam road, a 1.20 km long flyover from the housing unit to the Ramasamy wedding hall at the Kavundampalayam junction, a 17.20 meter wide flyover worth Rs. 41.88 crores began in March last year.

The bridge works increased traffic congestion on Mettupalayam Road in the morning and evening. At first traffic change was announced on January 8and buses and cars were diverted on Mettupalayam Road. Due to the change in traffic, two-wheelers and four-wheelers used to pass through the nearby streets where the flyover works are being carried out.

Cars and two-wheelers are now plying on Mettupalayam Road again. The roads damaged by the flyover works have not been repaired and people are suffering because of this. Locals said the roads in Kavundampalayam are completely damaged. This not only makes people suffer but also increases traffic congestion. They accused people are afraid to even walk to the shops and accidents are also likely to occur due to this traffic congestion. Work on the Kavundampalayam flyover is continuing at a very slow pace and they urged to get the job done quickly.
