Exclusive Covid-19 treatment center for children inaugurated in Coimbatore, 5 children admitted on the first day

Five children were admitted on the inaugural day of the exclusive Covid-19 Treatment Center for Children in Coimbatore.



Coimbatore: With the spread of Covid-19 infection on the increase in Coimbatore, the total number of Covid-19 victims in the district has reached 82,000. Following Chennai and Chengalpattu district, the number of daily Covid-19 infections in Coimbatore has also exceeded 1,000 cases.

Covid-19 cases reached a new high on Tuesday with 1,566 people testing positive. The second wave of Covid-19 is reportedly affecting youngsters and children more.

A specialized center for children had been set up at the Coimbatore Government Hospital to treat children infected with Covid-19.



On Tuesday, a Covid-19 Treatment Center for Children at Masonic Children's Hospital in Race Road was inaugurated. Five children with Covid-19 infection were treated on the first day.



As part of the first phase of the treatment center, 25 beds with separate oxygen supply facility has been made available. Permission has been granted for mothers to stay with their children. If the mothers of the children admitted have a mild infection, they are also treated. Doctors said the children were being kept under 24-hour medical supervision at the Covid-19 treatment center.
