Coimbatore: Citizens Voice Coimbatore has written to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit regarding complaints mounting on private hospitals over fake treatment bills in the guise of package deals for Covid patients.

Citizens Voice Coimbatore, Founder, President, C M Jayaram and Secretary, V A Shanmugham stated, "We thank the Honourable Prime minister and His Excellency the TN Governor for relaxIng the age restrictions for the ‘Covid 19' vaccine and making it available for anyone who is 18 years of age onwards. It is going to be a relief for all the members each family. But at the same when medicines are going to be routed through private agencies, commercialization, hoarding, selling medicines beyond stipulated price are going to be challenge areas for the Government.

Presently the public are extremely convinced about the efforts taken and the modalities followed by the Central and State Government. If at all needed, the Government can consider charging reasonable cost from the public other than below poverty line ration card holders. This will render a source of income to the Government exchequer and ensure no manipulation or discredit to the government.

The Prime Minister is aware of the piling complaints recently from the public against private hospitals regarding excessive and fake treatment bills in the guise of package deals for Covid patients. This has eroded all the good work done by the Government and many hospitals tactfully do not accept patients except those with insurance reimbursement. They get hot cash from kith and kin of Covid families for obvious evasive reasons.

Alternate Sidha medical treatment for Covid-19 which is available in all District Head Quarters and Sidha medicines that have proven results in Rajaji Hospital in Chennai at a very minimal cost should be tried throughout the State,” added the leaders of Citizen Voice Coimbatore in their letter.
