Coimbatore: As many as 160 pedestal fans and water dispensers were donated to the ESI Hospital in Singanallur costing about Rs. 4,25,000 by Covai Care.
"This is our contribution to the Covid-19 infected patients since pedestal fans are more useful than air-conditioning which is not recommended in these pandemic times, inside the hospital," said members of Covai Care.
“Earlier a couple from a marginalised family donated as many as 100 fans to Covid-19 patients and after seeing their noble gesture, more are coming through”
Dr. Raveendran added that at present there were 700 Covid-19 infected patients at the ESI hospital and that all the beds were almost filled. In response to a query about availability of beds for incoming Covid-19 patients in future, the Dean clarified that the ESI Hospital would shift those patients to CMCH since it had more than a thousand beds at present with facility to provide more, due to the help of the Coimbatore District Collector, S Nagarajan.
