Tirupur district has a total of 11,65,417 male voters, 11 lakh 93,104 female voters and 283 third gender voters out of a total population of 23,59,804.
Of these 8,35,798 are male voters, 8,17,255 are female voters and third gender voters casted their votes making a total of 16,44,085 votes filed in Tirupur. About 7,15,719 people across the district did not vote. As a percentage, the male turnout is 70.88%, The female turnout is 68.49% and the Third Gender had a turnout of 11.30%. With a total average 69.67%.
Vote counting for the 8 constituencies was held today at LRG Arts College, Palladam Road. In the total of 8 constituencies AIADMK got 5 constituencies including Avinashi, Tirupur North, Palladam, Madathukulam and Udumalaipettai.
The DMK captured Tirupur South, Kangayam and Dharapuram constituencies. In Avinashi constituency, AIADMK candidate Dhanapal got 116674 votes and Adi Tamilar Peravai Adiyaman got 65513 votes.
In Tirupur North constituencyVijayakumar contested on behalf of AIADMK with 11,2,766 votes, Subramanian alias Ravi contested on behalf of the Communist Party of India and got 7,2,364 votes.
Former AIADMK minister MSM Anandan contested from Palladam constituency got 12,69,10 votes, MDMK Candidate Muthu Rathinam got 94,212 votes.
In Udumalaipet, Minister Radhakrishnan got 96,893 votes and Congress Candidate Thennarasu got 74,998 votes.
In Madathukulam, Mahendran who contested on behalf of AIADMK got 84,313 votes and Jayaramakrishnan who contested on behalf of DMK got 77,875 votes.
In Kangayam constituency, former minister MP Saminathan who contested on behalf of DMK got 94,197 votes and AS Ramalingam who contested on behalf of AIADMK got 86,866 votes.
In the much-anticipated constituency of Dharapuram, BJP state president L Murugan lost to DMK candidate Kayalvizhi Selvaraj. Earlier in the day, the counting of votes was halted due to repair of a machine in the 25th round and the final stage was delayed. But those demands were rejected and the final status was announced.
Based on that, DMK candidate Kayalvizhi Selvaraj got 89,986 votes and L Murugan got 88,593 votes along with the postal vote count L Murugan lost by a margin of 1393 votes.
