The public have requested the forest officials to take immediate actions regarding this.
Coimbatore: Leopards can be frequently spotted in the residential areas of Valparai town in Coimbatore district. Leopards were seen roaming the residential areas at night, catching domestic animals such as chickens, goats and cats. This was recorded in the CCTV cameras placed at the houses in Valparai.
Later on behalf of the public, a petition was given to the Anaimalai Tiger Reserve Director Arokiya Xavier and Valparai Forest Ranger Jayachandran.
Forest officials acted upon this and confirmed the leopard's activity using automatic cameras. They also set 2 traps near the New Bus Stand residential areas on April 13thbut the Leopard was not caught.
Public are alleging that the forest officials are not taking serious measures to capture the leopard as there is no beef meat at the cages which were kept to capture the leopard. The public have requested the forest officials to take immediate actions regarding this.
