Valparai forest officials received some information that tea estate workers Umesh Ora and Madhiyash Munda near Manampalli Forest Range have set traps in the estate near to catch wild chicken.
Forest officials under Manampalli Forest Ranger Manigandan arrested the two for attempting to poach in the Manampalli Forest area. Under the orders of Anamalai Tiger Reserve Director Arokiya Xavier, a fine of Rs 10,000 was collected from both the labourers and were released after a warning.
Forest department officials then issued a warning that any harm done to wild animals or any attempts to harm the wildlife will be seriously punished.
